Goran Aleksić
 
 
He was born on 7 September 1960 in Rome, the Italian Republic. 
 
He studied at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade, where he also completed post-graduate specialist studies in the field of international commercial law, and then obtained a Magister degree. He also completed specialised courses at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna and at the Harvard Business School in Boston.
 
He joined the diplomatic service of the SFRY in 1991. Until 1998, he served as Third, Second and First Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Yugoslavia - SFRY and FRY. From 1998 to 2002, he was First Secretary and then Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in Greece. Upon his return to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he held the post of deputy head of the Multilateral Economic Cooperation Department, and in 2003 he became the Chief of Diplomatic Protocol.
 
From 2004 to 2009, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Serbia and Montenegro and, subsequently, of the Republic of Serbia to Ukraine as well as, on a non-resident basis, to the Republic of Moldova.
 
Upon returning to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he assumed the post of head of the Russia and Eurasia Department, where he remained until 2011. In 2011 and 2012, he headed the Europe Department, and in 2012 he was appointed as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Cooperation. In 2014 and 2015, he was an Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, upon which he was again appointed as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Cooperation.
 
He served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to the Italian Republic from October 2017 to February 2023. At the same time, he was a non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Malta as well as to the Republic of San Marino. Along with these duties, he served as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Serbia to the United Nations Rome-based Agencies (Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, World Food Programme).
 
From February 2023 to May 2024, he served as the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. During this period, he was also the head of the Delegation of the Republic of Serbia in the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) and Coordinator of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the promotion of Belgrade's candidacy to host the Specialised Exhibition EXPO 2027 themed "Play for Humanity – Sport and Music for All".
 
He is fluent in English, Russian and Italian language.
 
He is married to Svetlana.
