The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in London has a pleasure to announce that it has become richer for the artistic portrait of Čedomilj Mijatović, one of the first 16 academics of the Serbian Royal Academy and its second President, as well as the founder of the National Bank of Serbia. As a six-time Serbian Minister of Finance, a multiple Minister of Foreign Affairs, and a long-time Ambassador of the Kingdom of Serbia in London, Mijatović left an indelible mark on British-Serbian relations. He was also a signatory to the trade agreement with the United States in 1881, which is marked as the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

STATEMENT BY THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denies the allegations of some domestic media that Serbian citizens  temporarily working abroad will have to pay taxes on foreign income, not only in the country of their temporary residence, but also in Serbia.

We believe that the catastrophically intoned texts, based on insufficiently researched facts, on a topic that most directly concerns a large number of citizens of the Republic of Serbia abroad, unreasonably create concern among our citizens, which can be concluded from the increased number of their inquiries to diplomatic and consular missions of Serbia.

We appeal to the residents of Serbia who are temporarily abroad not to pay attention to incorrect sensationally intoned texts on this topic, because, when it comes to taxation procedures for that category of our citizens, nothing will fundamentally change in relation to the previous practice.

In the hope that behind the irresponsible and inaccurate media articles on this topic there is no evil intention but misunderstanding, we emphasize that Serbia is doing and will continue to do everything to help its diaspora in every way.

Belgrade,
23 December 2020

ENTRY REGIME IN THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA AS OF 20 DECEMBER 2020

Foreign citizens will not be allowed to enter Serbia as of 20 December 2020 without a negative RT- PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 virus, not older than 48 hours, issued by the reference laboratory of the country from which they come or enter the Republic of Serbia, in order to protect against the introduction of infectious diseases into the territory of the Republic of Serbia. If they do not have a negative PCR test, they will have to return to the country they are coming from. If there is a delay in entering the Republic of Serbia, which cannot be attributed to the fault of the passenger but is a consequence of an external event that could not have been predicted, avoided or eliminated (delay / cancelation of flight, departure of buses, trains, etc.), then the test cannot be older than 72 hours when entering the Republic of Serbia.

Citizens of the Republic of Serbia and foreign citizens who have been granted temporary residence or permanent residence in the Republic of Serbia, as well as members of diplomatic and consular staff and their family members, upon entering the Republic of Serbia, who do not have a negative RT-PCR test for SARS virus CoV-2, issued by the reference laboratory of the country from which they come or enter the Republic of Serbia, not older than 48 hours from the date of issuance of the results, will be required to self-isolate at home for 10 days. The quarantine can be interrupted once they provide a negative RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 virus issued by a reference laboratory in the Republic of Serbia.

COOPERATION BETWEEN YUMCO AND BRITISH COMPANY FLEXITOG WORTH 1.5 MILLION POUNDS

Since the end of last year, YUMCO has been manufacturing jackets for work in extremely cold conditions for British company Flexitog. Starting January 2016, YUMCO is to deliver 10,000 jackets on a monthly basis to this British company. These two companies were connected thanks to the efforts of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia.

YUMCO’s director, Goran Djordjevic, sent a letter of thanks to the Embassy of Serbia in the UK. In a Serbian weekly NIN of 24 December 2015, he said: ”We have concluded contracts for Finnish and Polish armies and thanks to efforts of Ambassador Ognjen Pribicevic, we now have a deal for British market.  This is a modest start, but for the next year we signed an export contract worth 1.5 million pounds. Our embassy in London is a inspiring example how all our embassies around the world should promote the interests of domestic manufacturers. Las month, we had a 6 per cent increase in salaries and this month we shall have approximately a 5 per cent raise.
