On 25 November 2016, David Norris, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Russian and Slavonic Studies of the University of Nottingham presented his recent book “Haunted Serbia: Representations of History and War in the Literary Imagination” in the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in London. The book deals with Serbian prose literature from the 1980s focusing on the Second World War through the works of Svetlana Velmar Jankovic, Slobodan Selenic and others, and then goes on to the 1990s and the books of David Albahari, Vladimir Arsenijevic and finally to those relating to NATO air strikes against Serbia in 1999 depicted in the works of Djordje Pisarev and Mileta Prodanovic. Zoran Milutinovic, Professor of South Slav Literature and Modern Literary Theory at the University College London acted as a moderator. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Pribicevic emphasized that the Embassy dedicated special attention to the promotion of cultural cooperation between Serbia and the UK. He expressed gratitude to Professor Norris for his personal efforts aimed at strengthening this cooperation by his professional engagement as well as by his books.
