In the framework of the Centenary Commemoration of Dr. Elsie Inglis, a humanist and a women’s rights activist who formed hospitals and provided assistance to the wounded in war-affected countries during WWI, and particularly in Serbia, a central commemoration was held in St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, on 29 November 2017. In addition to numerous guests including the descendants of Scottish nurses, Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, the First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon, and representatives of Diplomatic Corps in London attended the Commemoration. The Embassy of Serbia in London has been presented by Nataša Marić, Chargé d’Affaires a.i.

A commemoration held at the cemetery in Edinburgh on 26 November, on the very day of the death of Dr. Inglis, was attended by Slobodan Novaković, Defence Attaché, Captain (Navy), who laid the wreath on the tomb of Dr. Inglis. On the same day, there was a commemoration at the Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in London attended, on behalf of the Embassy, by Third Secretary Veljko Jelenković.
