The second-in-line All-Serbian Children’s Assembly for the children of Serbian Origin from the Region and Diaspora was hosted from 23 to 28 May 2019 under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Vučić, organized by the Belgrade’s City Administration - the Children's Cultural Center Belgrade and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia – Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the region. The event was realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information.
In that period, children aged 10-14 stayed at the families of their peers from Belgrade Primary School "Starina Novak". Children came from the USA, Australia, the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Croatia, France, Sweden, Northern Macedonia, Slovenia and Romania. The initial idea was to give the children from diaspora the opportunity to love the country of their origin, learn and speak the Serbian language, get to know the sights of Serbia, cultural heritage and history, and have fun. Thanks to the children from the Primary School "Starina Novak" in Belgrade and their families who have accommodated children from the diaspora, friendships that children will remember for their entire life have been created – pointed out Dragan Marić, the creator of the event "The All-Serbian Children's Assembly".
The event was officially opened on the Day of Slavic Literacy, 24 May, by the reception in the Presidency. The guests were greeted by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the patron of the event. The children had the opportunity to visit the Presidency, with the expert guidance of Mr. Nikola Selaković, the Secretary General of the President of the Republic. In the Children's Cultural Center Belgrade, a music-scenic welcome program was held, where the Mayor of Belgrade, Prof. Dr. Zoran Radojičić, addressed the children.
