On the occasion of the International Mother Language Day, at the invitation of the High Commission of Bangladesh in the UK, Ambassador Joksimović participated in a virtual event entitled “Fostering multilingualism for inclusion in education and society”. On this occasion, the representatives of the Diplomatic Corps had the opportunity to present their mother language in a three-minute performance in the form of poetry, song or dance. In addition to a short presentation on the significance of the Cyrillic alphabet, Ambassador Joksimović chose the ethno song “Seven Hours Strike” (Karađorđe’s Entry into Belgrade) performed by Biljana Krstić. It is a song dedicated to the liberation of Belgrade from the Turks in 1806, written by ethnomusicologist Petar Vukosavljević, whose first audio recording was made by Svetlana Stević in 1988. This work was presented to the participants of the manifestation “Fostering multilingualism for inclusion in education and society” in the form of a video showing the Smederevo Fortress.
